We are looking for collaborators to revamp and maintain an online platform we are developing, called ‘The Cedars.’ ‘Cedars’ is a platform that displays what a relevant and inspirational life looks like for the millennial audience through different forms of creative expression, including writing, video, and photography. For the Spring of 2017 we are looking for creative, self-starters that will take on key roles as part of the team that develops creative content for the ‘Cedars’ platform. We are seeking a developer who is able to work independently to enhance the website which is built on WordPress. The developer will be enthusiastic in experimenting with the art of the possible to provide a strong user experience for each segment of ‘The Cedars.’ The developer will be tasked with enhancing the website with the goal of delivering visual stories that perform well on different platforms.
The ideal person will see this role as an opportunity to their build their portfolio of work. He or she is strong at communicating the level of effort needed for each enhancement and planning accordingly in partnership with the Creative Director. Likewise the developer will bring creativity to problem solving needed and suggest further enhancements to pursue.
- Scope desired enhancements and provide estimates on level of effort
- Develop enhancements in an agile manner based on planned user stories
- Develop a strong user experience to deliver visual stories on video and photography
- Maintain communication with Creative Director and Editorial Planner to adhere to deadlines
- 1 – 2 years web development experience
- Experience with WordPress websites is a plus
- Solid experience with Photoshop
- College degree completed or in process
The team will be largely virtual. Development of each enhancement will start with a virtual meeting discussing the stories for each sprint of development, and end with a demo of enhancements developed through a virtual presentation.
